PhaseOne P30+ Digital Back frozen in dry ice, still works! (video)

To demonstrate how rugged their digital backs are, Phase One decided to drop a £13,000 P30+ into a bucket of dry ice until it reached -55°C.
Amazingly, after putting in a fresh battery and scraping the frost off of the display it worked perfectly! (Unlike the stress ball which accompanied it that went solid.)

Check out the video of the mad Danish Tech!

Do we really need to see this???

Erm,
remember, you clicked the link Mr Anonymous.
To answer your question, no we don"t REALLY need to see this, which is why the BBC didn't interrupt your programme with it and it wasn't on the front page of every newspaper. But, some people might find it interesting so I've posted it here for their benefit.

Yeah that's all well and good, but maybe they should warm it up to room (studio) temperature and watch it struggle to perform consistently and speedily!! Maybe we all need a bucket of dry ice to dunk our P-30s into mid shoot, might make them worth the money!!

I work with these backs, and many others all the time, it is fair to say that I've noticed a considerable slowing of performance, in the PhaseOne systems, as the unit heats up. Usually by midday it's worth putting a cool battery on and put a fan on it....or have a backup on ice!!

I'm going over to see Phase One in a couple of weeks, I'll ask about your issue, I'd appreciate it if you could e-mail any specifics that might help:
Back model
Serial number
Firmware version
Card or tethered shooting

I'll post any ideas that phaseone have, hopefully we can solve the issue you're having.
