Off to China
I've just booked a holiday in China!
First I'll be doing a two week "Discover China"tour with Jules Verne then I'll fly from Shanghai to Hong Kong and hang out there for 5 days at the Eaton.
My biggest dilemma so far is whether to lug the laptop with me. I'm thinking no, but then I'm gonna need one of those hard drive backup thingies. I saw the Hyperdrive Colorspace on Luminous Landscape. Looks pretty cool, especially the 4AA battery pack. I'm figuring that power may be an issue on parts of the tour. I've already contacted the UK distributor to try and get them in the shop, we'll see how that goes.
Anyone got any recommendations?
What should I see in Hong Kong?

I have an Epson P5000 I picked up in HK when I went, you can borrow that if you want....
As for places to go, Hmm, the peak is an obvious one. Head for central follow the signs for the peak tram. Views are awesome. Can be a total waste of time if the smog gets too bad. Watch out for conmen pretending to be monks. Also check out the big budda. Bout 30 mins out of town on the (awesome) train.
In TST Ned Kelly's bar is a laugh. Ex pat geordie who plays the kettle with a brass band.
If you are feeling adventurous, Chunking Mansions in TST is scary but a quintessential HK experience. Copy watch mate. Happy price.

... as for the laptop. My personal experience is; the weight and hassle outweigh any benefits. Prepare for cold-turkey though.
